A quick History of Barcelona
The city of Barcelona came into existence during the Phoenician and Roman periods. History was that the Romans were eventually driven away from the city by the Visigoths. This gave the city the name it holds today making it the focal point of the Catalan Kingdom. The most prestigious moment to come to the city to date was when it hosted the 1992 Olympic Games.
Socializing and Nightlife
Barcelona is famous for its nightlife and social events. Las Ramblas is the area you should be heading for. The Ramblas is famous for street performers including human statues.
Look for Mirós’ circular tile mosaic can be found close to both the Liceu Theatre and the Liceu metro. Look for a large circular colored mosaic tiling right in the middle of the Ramblas. If you look carefully, you will also find one tile that was signed by Miró.
It is a late-night city where the main bars remain quiet until around midnight when the city really livens up. Food-wise, the most popular dish served in restaurants is Paella and Rioja is the tasty special local wine.
Shopping
The Born district is the place to head for the best boutiques, while the up-and-coming hotspot Sant Antoni has plenty of vintage option

City Attractions and Sightseeing
A must-see in Barcelona is to head for the Port Vell marina complex at the waterfront. You can see all the super yachts. You can then walk up the world-famous street of Las Ramblas. It is a large boulevard that runs through the heart of the city center. Yes, there is an area to stay away from. The Southern side is seedier.
Arc De Triomf is where you do people-watching.
