Flushing Meadow Park: A Gem in the Heart of New York

Flushing NY is a neighborhood in the New York City borough of Queens. It is located on the north shore of Long Island and is bordered to the east by Whitestone and to the west by College Point. The neighborhood is home to a large immigrant population and is one of the most ethnically diverse neighborhoods in New York City. Flushing’s Chinatown is one of the largest in the United States, and the neighborhood also has a significant Korean population.

Venture out and take a look at what they thought our future would look like. The Unisphere is near the entry of the stadium. The 1964 world fair, also known as the New York world fair, was a world fair held in New York City. The fair was open for two six-month seasons, from April 22 to October 18, 1964, and from April 21 to October 17, 1965. A total of 51 million people attended the fair. The theme of the 1964 world fair was “Peace Through Understanding”, and its symbol was the Unisphere.

August is peak summer and it is advised to dress appropriately.  Summertime will make it feel like a run-through or soak your feet in the fountain. Just like all New Yorkers do on Summer Days. Explore and see the sights from the 1964 Fair.

Getting there: Travel by train as this is the best and most economical for getting around the city. The train is air conditioned. The number seven takes you to the last stop. The LIRR railroad can also get you there from Manhattan or Long Island.
